Jake's dad picked me up from the hospital at 10:30 and had me home at 11am. Allie was surprised to see me walk through the door. She came over and told me to take off my boots, and then while I took off my coat she ran to the bathroom and yelled to me "Mama come, go pee and poop" LOL
Then we had some cuddles, played with PlayDough and water painting and Lego. We had lunch and watched some tv. Then it was nap time, and that was a bit of a disaster - she was hugging me and crying, clearly worried I was going to leave. Eventually we got her down by me sitting in my room to "nap", and Jake settling her.
When Allie woke up, she came down and hugged me to death some more. So many hugs and kisses :) We had supper and watched a movie. Jake's parents & his daughter Trisha came over and we had Christmas with them.
The first gift Allie opened was from Trisha - a Doc McStuffins doll - and Allie was instantly in love. She hugged it so much, carried it around all night, and talked to it lots. It's so cute to see how she really loves her toys.
Allie was eager to help Jake and I open gifts for her and for us. She was very obsessed with picking at and peeling off the stick on To/From tags on the gifts, and then trying to stick them on everyone.
Once Allie was settled for the night (which involved tucking me in to bed first, and I had to fake sleep and then sneak downstairs), Jake & I sorted out her gifts for the morning.
I was awake by 7:30, as I am used to the start of the hospital day then. Allie slept in, getting up after I had already showered. We finished getting ready and came downstairs around 9am. She hardly noticed the gifts under the tree, just went to find her favourite toy from the night before and climbed up on the couch for a movie.
We had breakfast and then asked if she would like to open her presents. She said "Oh, okie" and we started the slow but steady process.
Jake's daughter Shyla and her boyfriend Blake arrived part way though and they helped Allie open most of her gifts. We had a lovely visit with them and then they were off to their next stop.
It was gloriously sunny and warm outside, so we all went and played in the backyard for an hour or so. Allie had a great time wandering around playing with sticks and kicking the ball. It was very relaxing and enjoyable.
After coming in for lunch, my parents came over and Allie was very excited to help open all the gifts we were exchanging. We had a nice relaxing visit and Allie went for her nap at some point in there.
Jake BBQ'd for our untraditional Christmas supper, and then we all laid down to colour in one of Allie's new giant floor colouring books. We also discovered Allie loves Toblerone chocolate bars !! She was wired after eating a bit with us, spinning around making herself dizzy and laughing like crazy. It was too funny.
She was a bit of a pain at bedtime, so I had to fake-go-to-bed again, and she still cried a bit. Poor girl, I hope she is ok once I go back to the hospital.
We enjoyed a quiet day at home, I organized myself to head back to the hospital in the evening, and Allie & I read LOTS of stories !! While she was napping, I spent HOURS getting her new LeapPad Ultra up and running, downloading games onto it so it was ready to go after I left. It was a pain, but I know she will absolutely LOVE playing on it once she gets used to it.
She helped me pack up my suitcase after her nap, which included her trying to put her new baby dolls in with my clothes. We had an early supper and headed out around 6pm to return me to the hospital. Allie did great with this process, and when it was time to go she got me to help her with her boots & coat and said BYE MAMA and went to leave the room. Jake & I were a little surprised, but pleastantly so. He did have a bit of a hard time getting her to bed because she was looking for me, and had sad tear filled eyes. But they are back to their own routines at home now, so all is well.
Overall being home for 3 days was amazing & wonderful & was just what I needed !!
It was also tiring, just sitting there while there was so much happening. Allie's got more energy than I remember and she barely stops moving & talking. She must have given me a million hugs & kisses while I was home, which was so sweet. I loved all the cuddles we got to share.
Now I am all settled back in at the hospital, with a couple weeks left. When I see my doctor tomorrow, I am going to specifically ask her to schedule my c-section so that I have a date & can start to countdown the remaining days !!
