I am starting to feel like it is "crunch time" - not in the way that I feel unprepared, just in the way that I want to get as many little odds & ends tied up and taken care of over the new week or so, so that I can sit back and relax during the last few weeks.
Since my last post, we DID order the nursery furniture. It was ordered online, so it's just a matter of waiting for it to arrive and be picked up and built. We ordered from Best Buy (love that my staff discount works while I'm on Mat. Leave). We scored a great deal on our glider, just so happened it went on sale the day we ordered it. And we got our crib & dresser as well. We opted not to get a change table for a few reasons - the main one being that we really don't think we will end up using it, and the second being that we don't want the room to feel too cramped. We agreed, if we find we really want it, we can always order it down the road.
We have started buying clothes for the baby - mainly sleepers and onsies, a few little outfits, even some little tiny baby socks. Yesterday we picked up some diapers and wipes, and a few other diaper bag essentials. A few months back, I spent an entire afternoon online signing up for all sorts of freebies and samples for new moms & babies. And slowly but surely they all arrive in the mail - lots of little sample sizes of baby products, formula (though I hope to breast feed), coupons & vouchers, and so on. It's great !!
My Baby Shower (N.S. Edition) is tomorrow - which is so exciting !! I am looking forward to seeing everyone and talking lots about the baby !! I have a few friends who can't make it due to work, so they are coming to my house for a visit in the evening instead : ) After the shower, Jake & I will be able to sit down and figure out what we still need to pick up, exchange, return, etc. Then I will feel much more organized.
Yesterday, Jake told me something that made me extremely happy. He said "You seem to be more like your old self - organized and on top of things" !!
This is huge in my eyes because throughout my pregnancy, one of the most difficult changes I noticed in myself, was a serious lack of organization, remember, planning, and preparing -- and for those of you who know me well, you know that's what I am all about !! I have felt much more "on top of things" lately, and I am starting to think this is my version of what everyone refers to as "nesting".
Today I am aiming to tackle a few projects around the house, little ones and big ones. Lots of little ones (I love crossing things off the list, so I like to break them down as much as possible), and only a few big ones - like reorganizing my closet and dresser, yikes. Wish me luck !!
