As I sit here typing, two things are happening.
1. I can see some small back-hoe type machine outside my window digging away to try to solve the water issues we are having in the house. It's more than a little strange to watch, and makes me pretty anxious because there is only a few feet of space between the side of the house and the fence. I hope the driver is excellent at steering. There is a lot of hollering going on, which seems to be how everyone communicates. Some "landscaping" is happening - aka trees being cut/trimmed, which is neither here nor there - to accommodate the back-hoe's access, and therefore I hear a lot of chainsaws too. I'm glad I am going down the valley tomorrow to visit Mom and get my nails done, it's awful hard to relax with all this ruckus.
2. If I glance even slightly to my left or behind me, I am thrilled to see that the shared office/nursery looks like both an office and a nursery !! The furniture arrived for pick up last Wednesday, and we brought it home Thursday. Friday Jake tackled the crib with a little help from me. Saturday I started the dresser drawers and Jake built the body when he got home from work. Sunday I assembled the glider - which came partially assembled to my shock & awe !! And then we got to arranging ... it took a few different configurations of furniture until Jake & I were happy with the set up.
Also on the baby front, I did some laundry - sheets, blankets, towels, cloths, etc - basically all the things I know we will need to have ready to go in the first little bit. Clothes are all hung in the closet - tags on, just in case anything needs to be exchanged (aka she's super long and NB sizes don't fit). All sorts of other odds & ends are organized into clear bins inside the closet, so we can find them when we need them but they aren't pouring out every time we open the door. Overall I feel very prepared, which is great.
Now we just wait ... and wait ... and wait.
